Not too long ago I had the opportunity to give Eat & Repeat a try after stumbling it somewhere on the internet. What's unique about this humble cafe is the "boat noodle" concept that they implement except you won't be seeing any Thai dishes but Malay dishes instead. P and I went there for dinner around seven expecting a large crowd but surprised to see very few people in the cafe.
The ordering system is plain simple. Just like Boat Noodle, you just browse through their one-page menu and tick your choices in an ordering sheet prepared on each table and just hand the sheet over to their servers.
Everything looks good to me!
As both our tummies were rumbling quite obvious, we ordered 1x Nasi Lemak, 4x Mee Bandung, 1x Laksa Utara, 1x Kepak Ayam Tandoori, 1x Lontong, 1x Pulut Mangga, 2x Sagu Gula Melaka. In total, 11 bowls priced RM1.90 each! We initially thought that they serve in small bowls and portion as per Boat Noodle but oh boy were we so wrong.
Question. Do you think we finished this?
In my opinion, these are not small but rather generous portions! When they arrived (which took only a few minutes) I actually asked myself if we were able to finish them all because just... look... at... that.
As for taste, they were all surprisingly good except I do wish they came piping hot or warm rather than at room temperature and as for Pulut Mangga, the mango slice looks rather sad doesn't it? But for RM1.90, it's understood.
Laksa Utara *hearts for eyes*
My favourites are the Laksa Utara, Mee Bandung and Pulut Mangga! My least fav is the Sagu Gula Melaka due to its strong sirap flavour. At the end, we did manage to finish everything except a spoonful of Sagu Gula Melaka and left with very full and satisfied tummies.
Is it worth the second visit? Most definitely! For the price and portion, it's the perfect place for students and weight watchers. In fact, we enjoyed it so much we went again for yesterday's dinner.
My tip is to start with one or two bowls first then order more if you still feel hungry so you won't end up wasting food. Enjoy!
