Batrisyia Zainal

In my opinion, these are not small but rather generous portions! When they arrived (which took only a few minutes) I actually asked myself if we were able to finish them all because just... look... at... that.

What's with all the hate towards sadness?

Why is it a crime to shed a tear?

Why do people you thought cared for you most would run away from your sorrow?

Life is not all about going the easy way. It's not all about smiles and laughter and love and happiness. Sometimes people stumble and fall and they expect the people they thought cared the most would help them pick u

But why do every time I cry, those people would say, "Please don't cry" in an angry manner instead of "Please cry your heart out. Your feelings should be expressed" in a loving manner.

Lately, my anger turned sadness have bottled up over its limit. Feelings should be expressed not oppressed. I want to shout but no one can hear me. At all. Because I can't even hear myself. I've bottled up myself until I can't express anymore.

I never thought that feelings can be felt physically but I can feel it. So deeply.

And the best part is - no one wants to hear me cry.

I've had several both good and so-so experiences with churros but boy am I glad to have this gem 20 minutes away from my house.

Just recently opened, Street Churros is a petit and no-fuss shop for you to stop by and get yourself a snack in your right hand and a beverage in your left (that's what happened to me la).

Offering more than just plain ol churros coated with cinnamon and sugar, have your churros coated with chocolate or cheese OR fill your churros with blueberry, chocolate or cream cheese OR OR dip your churros in soft serve – whatever your heart desires!

I’ve always been a picky eater since I was little. People were bored with me eating the same thing over and over again but I wasn’t… until my brief visit to Gold Chilli recently. I’ve always been in my bubble by ordering things I’m familiar with but recent events have sparked a feeling I thought would never arrive – adventurous.

Breakfast – Village Park, Uptown Damansara

I don’t remember my last visit to Village Park but I remember why I always avoided eating here. There is just too many darn people. Apparently, the restaurant’s signature is the Nasi Lemak Ayam and I’ve never seen so many plates of nasi lemak on a table before. I’ve had it before but I’ve tasted better so I decided to try something I never knew existed which is pan mee. I was surprised with the generosity of the portion. It was fun and good yet it still can’t beat my love for wantan mee however their roti bakar with (actual) butter and kaya was great. I had a little bite of my mum’s chee cheong fun and it was good as well. I can conclude that the meal was a perfect alternative to nasi lemak.

Lunch – Ikea Mutiara Damansara (I know)

I know. Typical! But who can say no to Ikea’s meatballs, curry puffs, hot dogs, chicken wings, popiahs and other delish dishes? “Who would expect the best curry puffs and food would come from Ikea, a Swedish furniture store????” I ask myself mind-bogglingly every time I take a bite of a curry puff. I mean… I don’t even know what to say about it. I’m just putting it in here just because. (P/S: Please clean up after yourself every time you dine in. It wouldn’t hurt to be selfless.)

Tea time – Sugar & Butter by 126 Kitchen, Damansara Perdana

Despite being small, it’s a real cute café! Though I felt some decorations were unnecessary, it’s always exciting to see a row of beautiful cakes on a marble table. We had an almond slice (actual name not known), victoria pistachio sandwich cake (actual name not known) and BCGT (Belgian Chocolate Ganache Tart) along with a pot of English Breakfast tea and Sweet Dreams, a soda drink.

Four words, the cakes are fabulous! My favourite is the pistachio cake even though there is a lack of pistachio taste (or I simply don’t know how it taste like), the cake itself is moist, buttery and matches so well with the homemade strawberry compote and topped with what I assume, swiss meringue buttercream that’s smooth, silky and not too sweet.

BCGT, however, takes a whole different meaning. It’s chocolaty, smooth, silky, rich, creamy just like what you would expect from using such high quality chocolate and ingredients. Instead of buying overrated cakes at common restaurants, I rather spend the same amount of money for better tasting and quality cakes here. Nuff said. Regarding the drinks, I truly appreciate the presentation of the tea and the tea itself however I felt the soda drink was a bit of a rip off. I’ll stick to tea, thank you so much.

Sweet dreams to my RM10 ~

Aaaaaaand then we went to the clearance sale at Brands Outlet, IOI Mall Puchong and bought a RM20 bag for work k that’s it from me kthxbyeeeee.

I'm officially not a Gold Chilli Butter Chicken virgin no more.

A lot of my friends have told me the greatness of this butter chicken dish and I've been meaning to try it for a while now. I’ve also read a number of positive reviews. Can you imagine how high the level of my expectations has increased by these praises? Well, pretty high. The reason to the delay is simply because the restaurant is in Subang Jaya and I ain’t got no time to drive all the way to waste petrol driving around the area for a legit parking and I wasn’t sure if it was worth the effort at the time.

After the idea faded far and long in my brain, I finally got to try this ~magical~ dish last Friday. It was an accident to be honest. I’ve only been doing my internship at a media company for two weeks which happens to be in Subang. The funny thing is, my colleagues and I first planned to try the famous Subang Jaya Nasi Lemak at Restoran Darussalam but it was closed for Friday prayers. Guess what restaurant is just right beside Darussalam? GOLD CHILLI. Does this make you believe in fate again?

I didn’t have any high expectations on me during the time due to my empty stomach so any food would do justice. It was lunch hour and the restaurant is crammed with customers! At this point, I noticed everyone was eating butter chicken dishes while we sat at our table (which was together between other customers fyi). I wasn’t digging the whole table set up but it meant that the butter chicken should live to my expectation since there were so many people.

"Hey gud lookin'" says the butter chicken to me.

Their menu is not what I expected. I didn’t even think they had such a thing but to my surprise, the menu is quite extensive. They serve more than just butter chicken and I couldn’t help but wonder if the other dishes are doing as well as the butter dishes. Yet again, you can have more than just butter to your chicken. You can opt for assam, buttermilk and others which I can’t recall to go along with your choice of deep fried chicken, dory fillet fish or prawns. There are even plate sizes from small to large.

I went with a set of plain white rice, small butter chicken and teh o ais (RM12). Despite my curiosity towards the nationality and race of the waiters, the service was fast. I received my order within five minutes and as keen as I was to take my first bite, I proceeded to take photos while I waited for the others to receive their order.

As I spooned generous amount of buttermilk sauce on my rice and took a bite of a piece of chicken together, my eyes widened. My colleague asked, “So, how is it, Bat?” I was quiet for a while. I chewed slowly, letting the taste reach my tongue carefully and swallowed. “It’s SOOOO good!”

Would I come for their butter chicken again? Yes but with a different choice of meat. I’d like to try how the dory fish and prawns would contribute to my experience. Would I brag excitedly to people about this dish? Not really. If you’re around the area, try the Gold Chilli butter chicken at least once so you’ll know and decide for yourself what the fuss is all about.

For now, I shall continue my search for new food to try.
